Yep. I am with child. For more on this, check out today’s post, “In the Family Way,” over at The Writing Scott.

Oh, boy.

In book news, I’m happy to announce a few upcoming events:

* On the evening of Tuesday, November 27th, I’ll be reading from Keowee Valley over at Brevard College in beautiful Brevard, N.C. Joining me will be three author-professor colleagues, Jubal Tiner–whose book of short stories, The Waterhouse, was just released by Press 53–the poet Ken Chamlee, and edgy Appalachian writer Jennifer McGaha. The event will take place at the Francis Pavilion of the Porter Center at 7:30 p.m..

Please do join us if you’re in the area!

* On Thursday, November 29, I’ll be in Greenville, SC as part of “Dining with Authors,” hosted by the nonprofit organization Ready 4 Reading. The event will take place at Greenville’s McAlister Square Mall, and will be a chance for guests to visit and talk with local authors while enjoying a silent auction, heavy Hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar (wine/beer). All proceeds go to support Ready 4 Reading’s efforts at promoting literacy for newborns through 4 year-olds in underserved communities in the S.C. Upstate. (And what a great way to get ready for Christmas!)

Can y’all believe that next week is Thanksgiving? Not me. But we’re moving into a season I adore: a time of crisp, cold nights, starry skies, and all kinds of Light. I hope you’re well.
