This week’s column in The Greenville News is in memory of beloved South Carolina author Pat Conroy, who passed away very recently due to pancreatic cancer.

There was no question, when it came time to write my next column, that it would be about him. His work has been a part of my life for 20+ years, inspired my own career, and in my family, we consider him our literary patron saint.
