By now, most of you know that South Carolina lost its native son, writer Pat Conroy, only this week to pancreatic cancer. Devastated, I’ve combed the Internet over the past several days for different obituaries and tributes to him.

Today, I came across this link to the foreword of a book of essays Conroy edited, which was published in 2013. He wrote the foreword; it is, very much so, a love letter to the state of South Carolina. I just had to share.
